Halalroo started with a simple frustration: finding halal food in Australia shouldn't require word-of-mouth, endless Google searches, or scrolling through restaurant reviews hoping someone mentions the meat supplier.
Muslims in Australia have great halal restaurants on their doorstep — but the information about them is scattered, inconsistent, and often out of date. Some places are certified halal. Some are halal-friendly with a specific halal menu. Some just happen to serve halal chicken but nobody's sure about the rest of the menu. Diners deserve to know the difference before they walk in.
So we built Halalroo — a single place where every restaurant is clearly marked, filterable, and easy to find. No guesswork, no 20-minute deep dive into a Facebook group.
We would rather say "Status Unknown" than overstate a restaurant's halal status. If we haven't verified it, we don't claim it. Every restaurant is marked as Halal Verified, Halal Friendly, or Status Unknown, and we encourage you to confirm with the restaurant before ordering.
Halalroo is built for Australian diners and Australian restaurants. That means coverage of our cities, our cuisines, and the halal certification bodies that actually operate here.
Restaurant owners can claim their listings for free and update their own information. We don't charge restaurants to appear in the app, and we don't sell placement. If you're on Halalroo, it's because we found you and believe diners should know about you.
No ads. No subscriptions. No dark patterns. One small one-time unlock to access every city — that's it. If the app ever changes that, we'll tell you clearly.
Halalroo currently covers Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Perth, Adelaide, and the Gold Coast. We're adding more cities, more restaurants, and more ways to filter — including a restaurant owner portal so owners can manage their own listings and share deals directly with diners.
