These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Halalroo mobile application and any related services (collectively, the "Service").
Halalroo is a directory and discovery application for halal and halal-friendly restaurants across Australia. We help users find restaurants, filter by cuisine and dietary preferences, view restaurant details, and save favourites.
Halalroo is not a halal certification authority. The halal status displayed for each restaurant (including labels such as "Halal Verified", "Halal Friendly", or "Status Unknown") is compiled from information provided to us by restaurant operators, publicly available sources, and community contributions.
We take reasonable steps to present this information accurately, but:
You should always confirm halal status directly with the restaurant before ordering or eating. Halalroo is not responsible for any loss, harm, or discomfort arising from reliance on the halal information displayed in the app.
You agree not to:
Halalroo offers a one-time in-app purchase ("All Australian Cities Unlock") that grants permanent access to restaurant listings in all Australian cities covered by the Service.
All content in the Service — including the restaurant directory, logos, design, code, and text — is owned by Halalroo or licensed to us. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from this content without our written permission.
You retain ownership of any content you submit to us (such as feedback). By submitting content, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to use it to improve the Service.
Halalroo integrates with third-party services including Apple, Google, RevenueCat, Resend, Sentry, PostHog, and Google Maps. Your use of those services may be subject to their own terms and privacy policies, which we encourage you to review.
We aim to keep Halalroo available and reliable, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be unavailable during maintenance, updates, or due to circumstances outside our control (such as third-party outages).
We may add, change, or discontinue features at any time. We will not remove core paid functionality (such as access to unlocked cities) without reasonable notice.
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not warrant that:
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Halalroo and its operators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service — including (without limitation) damages relating to halal status inaccuracies, restaurant quality, or missed meals.
Where liability cannot be excluded, our total liability to you will not exceed the amount you have paid to Halalroo in the 12 months preceding the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes any rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
You may stop using the Service at any time and delete your account from the Profile screen in the app.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you breach these Terms, if required by law, or if we discontinue the Service. Where we discontinue the Service and you have an active paid unlock, we will provide reasonable notice and may (at our discretion) issue a pro-rata refund.
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by email. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised Terms.
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. Any dispute arising from these Terms or your use of the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of New South Wales.
